Each time you launch your boat on the water, life and death are in your hands. Every year approximately 525 Canadians lose their lives while having fun on the water. Simple actions, such as wearing an appropriate floatation device, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and taking time to properly plan out your trip can significantly reduce this number. For most boaters, boating is a pleasurable experience. This Boating Awareness course helps to ensure the safety of yourself, your passengers, and others out on the water.

This online Boating Awareness course is composed of five modules. These modules include:

• Module 1: Getting to Know Your Boat
• Module 2: Mandatory Safety Equipment
• Module 3: Boater Responsibilities
• Module 4: Operating Your Pleasure Craft
• Module 5: Emergency Situations

Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.

Being a responsible boater requires knowledge concerning all aspects of your vessel, required safety equipment, operating procedures, and much more! By the end of this course, you should be able to

• Understand what you need to know about your boat
• Describe what safety materials and procedures are needed
• Know the responsibility of every boater
• Identify hazards associated with fueling, operating, and navigating
• Identify risks and understand what to do in case of an emergency

Approximately 45 minutes

A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion for this online Boating Awareness course. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.

Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
