This course is designed specifically for hazmat employees – that is, anyone who is employed by a hazmat employer and directly affects hazmat transportation safety. This course will familiarize learners with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) to help them work safely around hazmat. This course satisfies the General Awareness training requirement 49 CFR §172.704(a)(1).

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Identify the required training all hazmat employees must receive
• Determine if a material is a hazmat and verify its hazard classification using the Hazardous Materials Regulations
• Recognize and identify hazmat through the use of shipping papers, markings, labels, and placards

Testing conducted in this online Hazmat: General Awareness Training course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.

Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available to download and print.
