This online magnetic locator operation course (approximately 2 hours) develops knowledge and skills associated with detecting ferrous (magnetic) objects. The course teaches basic magnetism concepts, magnetic field detection, magnetic locator operation, and advanced solutions for abnormal operating conditions (AOCs).

This e-learning course, developed with input from industry subject matter experts, utilizes photographs, computer models and videos, narration, and activities to enhance the student’s learning experience.

Objective 1 -Magnetic Fields and Magnetic Locating

• Describe magnetic fields and explain magnetic locating

Objective 2 – Magnetic Receiver Operation

• Describe magnetic receiver operation

Objective 3 – Managing Magnetic Field

• Identify and manage the effects of magnetic fields

Objective 4 – Locating Common Target Objects

• Use magnetic locator procedures to detect common objects

Objective 5 – Advanced Locating of Target Objects

• Use magnetic locator procedures to detect objects that are challenging to locate.

Approximately 120 minutes

Testing conducted during this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course as many times as necessary if the pass mark is not achieved.

Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing. The certificate is valid for 3 years from the course completion date indicated on the certificate.
