Course Overview
Injuries relating to manually moving materials are one of the most common workplace injuries in Canada. Such injuries are known as musculoskeletal injuries (or MSIs) and they can be prevented with the proper knowledge, techniques, and equipment. This course will walk you through how these injuries occur, and more importantly, how they can be prevented. This course relies on information that is in accordance with the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).
This Safe Manual Material Handling course will be presented in five chapters:
- Module 1: What is Manual Material Handling?
- Module 2: Potential Injuries
- Module 3: Pre-task Assessment
- Module 4: Safe Manual Handling Techniques
- Module 5: Preventative Strategies
Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.
